After rerolling the item its weight will remain unchanged. However, its base power and upgrades are reset. The item can still be enchanted after rerolling. The game should provide more information on its compare interface regarding upgrades, like: “X stats gained, or X stats loss.” This isn't feasible to implement due to the complexity of the process of comparing. There simply isn't enough space in the UI to make it work. A script that tests the requirements for upgrading an item prior to allowing the item to be upgraded is an alternative option. This is a good option for systems that have an extremely small number of upgradeable items and a few upgrade dependencies. A good example is a sword that can be upgraded from Sword +1 to Sword +2. A script could search for the Item Definition attribute of every upgrade, and then change the Item Status to “upgraded” to indicate that the upgrade was valid. Costs Upgrading gear can increase its physical strength, spell power and health (for rings and armor) or add bonuses when it's in your inventory. You can get upgrade components by crafting or purchase them from vendors. They can also be obtained or dropped from other players, on the Trading Post, or as rewards. Upgrade components can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets. They can also be attached to gathering tools. However, most upgrade components cannot be repaired or reused, except by using an Upgrade Extractor. However, there are exceptions for glyphs, which can be salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrading an item can cost gold and/or Dilithium according to the item type. A lot of upgrades require Flightstones or crests. The amount of crests or Flightstones required to upgrade an item is contingent on the gear's level and a maximum upgrade level is established by Blizzard. The upgrade to the highest level can be costly especially if you're upgrading PvE gear. Item upgrades can also change the type of ammunition a weapon uses or damage die size change its operative or unwieldy weapon's property, or alter its hand requirement. Some upgrades can even change the appearance of a weapon. While boosting stats is the primary goal of upgrades to items but you should take into consideration the cost of upgrading an item before making the decision. You may prefer to use your gold to upgrade rare items, but do not spend it on standard or items of the magic-tier. Upgrading these items will waste precious resources, and you'll soon discover that rare equipment is superior to them. Ask your guild members to give their opinion when you aren't sure whether upgrading is worth it. You may be able to get better upgrades for less cost. Upgrade your equipment as soon as you can because upgrades become more expensive over time. If you're not able to afford the upgrade costs it may be better to wait until you're able to. This will allow you to maximize your potential.
